This year, Moundville Archaeological Park will host its Annual Knap-In on March 3-4, 2023. This stone tool maker event at will host flint knappers from all over the country.
The Jones Archaeological Museum gift shop and coffee bar will be closed for inventory this coming Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
With the impending threat of severe weather, including the high risk of tornadoes and dangerous weather in West and Central Alabama, normal UA operations will be suspended at 12:30 p.m. today. This means that the Alabama Museum of Natural History, the Gorgas House Museum, the Paul W. Bryant Museum, the Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum, and Moundville Archaeological Park will all be closed. Normal Operations resume on February 17, 2023.

On January 21, from 11 am until 2 pm, Mrs. Laretta Weaver will be inside the Jones Archaeological Museum to teach a basketry class and share her Choctaw culture!

November is recognized as National American Indian Heritage Month! This year, Moundville Archaeological Park is celebrating with an exhibit titled Cultures, Not Costumes at the Intercultural Diversity Center, located inside The University of Alabama Student Center that will run from November 1st-16th.
Moundville Archaeological Park is looking for volunteers to help out with this year’s Native American Festival, which is being held on October 12-15, 2022. There are five different volunteer positions available and you can fill out the online form to sign up!
