Moundville Archaeological Park Pavilion

Moundville Archaeological Park has teamed up with Rural Studio to create a new pavilion space in the campground! Rural Studio is an off-campus design-build program part of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture of Auburn University. The program, established in 1993 by D.K. Ruth and Samuel Mockbee, gives architecture students a hands-on educational experience while assisting under-resourced communities of West Alabama’s Black Belt.

Since 2018, architects Emily Lopez, Katie Cantine, Lauren Ballard, and Sarah Page have been designing and building the pavilion inside the campground at Moundville Archaeological Park. To get updates on their progress, visit the Rural Studio blog.
